Byfield National Park and Five Rocks
Five Rocks and Nine Mile Beach north of Yeppoon are reached over Big Sandy, a kilometre-long climb through deep, dry dune sand, before the tracks drop to empty beaches. The Shoalwater Bay Military Training Area borders the park to the north and is off-limits.

Permits No vehicle access permit; QPWS camping permits for the 4WD-only coastal camping areas such as Five Rocks and Nine Mile Beach.
Before you go Check QPWS park alerts before you go, and pack drinking water: the camp taps are not safe to drink untreated.
What the trip asks of your 4WD
In the order a fitter would raise them, each with the reason. Up to three parts that fit for each, the first already chosen; swap any of them, or mark one you don't need.
Build it for your 4WD
Your rego or your model, and every part below is one that fits it. Until then you see the gear that fits any 4WD; the parts made for one vehicle wait for yours.
1 · Recovery
Big Sandy's deep, dry sand climb stops vehicles with too much tyre pressure or too little momentum.
2 · Suspension & GVM
Holes cut into the dune track and a full load for the long drive from Brisbane call for firmer, taller suspension.

More torque at low revs helps haul a loaded vehicle up Big Sandy's long, soft climb.
4 · Lighting & 12V
A dual battery keeps the fridge going at the unpowered beach camps.
5 · Storage & racks
Carry drinking water and camping gear; the camp taps are not safe to drink untreated.
Each of these is made for one vehicle, so the parts show once we know yours.
The trip asks for these; the rest of the rig is yours to choose. Build the whole rig for this trip.
