Service, clean and breathe. We service the engine properly, chemically clean the intake and EGR, fit the exhaust, then write a map to the engine as it actually is on the day: fuel, timing and boost read off our own dyno rather than off a file somebody emailed us.

Most of what you feel is low down, between 1,500 and 2,500 rpm, which is where a loaded 4WD lives on a hill or in sand.

The standard run below it is one 3.0L 1KD-FTV, Hilux N70, measured at the wheels on our own dyno, corrected to DD ATMC2 (factor 1.022), 29°C ambient, 2WD, in 4th gear.

The upper curve is 50% of what that same 4WD gained: the share a calibration carries before the exhaust and the intercooler go on. We dyno a vehicle as it arrives and again when the work is done, never once per stage, so this rung is worked out rather than measured.

Stage 3

adds high-flow injectors and a bigger turbo

Get a fitted quote

The point where the hardware sets the ceiling instead of the map. High-flow injectors put in more fuel than the factory ones can pass, and a larger turbo puts in enough air to burn it cleanly rather than making smoke.

This is a fitting job with a tune around it, not a bolt-on. It wants supporting work (cooling, clutch or converter, sometimes the fuel pump) and we will say so before anything comes apart.
