Uluru, NT to Laverton, WA
Great Central Road (Outback Way)
The desert link between Uluru and the WA Goldfields, about 1,135 km of wide graded road past Docker River, Warakurna, Warburton and Tjukayirla, with sealing under way toward a 2032 target. It is easy driving in the dry, but corrugations, bulldust, washouts after rain and wandering camels make it hard on vehicles.

Permits Free transit permits: a Central Land Council permit for the NT section, and a WA permit from the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (or the Ngaanyatjarra Council) from the NT border to Laverton.
Before you go Check the NT Road Report and the Shire of Laverton road report before you go, as rain brings washouts. Top up at every roadhouse.
What the trip asks of your 4WD
In the order a fitter would raise them, each with the reason. Up to three parts that fit for each, the first already chosen; swap any of them, or mark one you don't need.
Build it for your 4WD
Your rego or your model, and every part below is one that fits it. Until then you see the gear that fits any 4WD; the parts made for one vehicle wait for yours.
1 · Suspension & GVM
Long corrugated stretches with a loaded vehicle or caravan are hard on shocks.

Camels, cattle and dogs wander onto the road.
3 · Tow & rear bars
Stony gravel is hard on tyres, and many tow, so a strong rear bar with a spare carrier helps.
4 · Lighting & 12V
A dual battery keeps the fridge running between the few roadhouses.
5 · Air intake
Bulldust is a constant on the unsealed sections.
6 · Storage & racks
Water and supplies for long days between roadhouses need secure storage.
7 · Tuning & remaps
Caravans and campers run this road, and a towing tune keeps a heavy rig pulling in its torque over 1,100 km of gravel.
Each of these is made for one vehicle, so the parts show once we know yours.
The trip asks for these; the rest of the rig is yours to choose. Build the whole rig for this trip.
