Kakadu: Jim Jim Falls, Twin Falls and Gunlom

Sand and corrugated 4WD tracks lead to the plunge pool of Jim Jim Falls and, across Jim Jim Creek, to Twin Falls gorge, while the south of the park has high-clearance roads to Gunlom and Maguk. The Jim Jim and Twin Falls area is closed for all of 2026 while roads and walkways are rebuilt, with reopening planned for the 2027 dry season.

What the trip asks of your 4WD

In the order a fitter would raise them, each with the reason. Up to three parts that fit for each, the first already chosen; swap any of them, or mark one you don't need.

Build it for your 4WD

Your rego or your model, and every part below is one that fits it. Until then you see the gear that fits any 4WD; the parts made for one vehicle wait for yours.

We look up the make, model, series and engine from the plate. We keep the plate and the vehicle details, never the owner’s, for 90 days, so you aren’t asked twice.

Make & model

  1. 1 · Suspension & GVM

Long corrugated gravel roads and high-clearance-only roads such as Gunlom Road need clearance and shocks that last.

  2. 2 · Recovery

Soft sand on the final run to Jim Jim and Twin Falls bogs vehicles left at road pressure.

    • 3 · Air intake

Jim Jim Creek on the way to Twin Falls has historically run around 0.6 to 1 m deep early in the season.

    • 4 · Lighting & 12V

A dual battery keeps food cold at unpowered camps in 35-degree heat.

Each of these is made for one vehicle, so the parts show once we know yours.

The trip asks for these; the rest of the rig is yours to choose. Build the whole rig for this trip.
