Climies Track

About 20 km of rock steps, steep climbs, bog holes and rocky creek crossings along the coast between Trial Harbour and Granville Harbour, graded Very Difficult by Parks and Wildlife Service Tasmania. The low coastal scrub gives nothing to winch from, so rangers recommend groups of four or more vehicles.

What the trip asks of your 4WD

In the order a fitter would raise them, each with the reason. Up to three parts that fit for each, the first already chosen; swap any of them, or mark one you don't need.

Build it for your 4WD

Your rego or your model, and every part below is one that fits it. Until then you see the gear that fits any 4WD; the parts made for one vehicle wait for yours.

We look up the make, model, series and engine from the plate. We keep the plate and the vehicle details, never the owner’s, for 90 days, so you aren’t asked twice.

Make & model

  1. 1 · Recovery

With scrub too low to winch from, a winch with a ground anchor and other vehicles to pull from is the way out of a bad hole.

  2. 2 · Suspension & GVM

Rangers call for high clearance, and a lift with longer travel keeps the wheels down over rock steps.

    • 3 · Rock sliders

Rock steps and ledges land vehicles on their sills, and sliders with underbody protection take the hits.

    • 4 · Air intake

Bog holes and rocky creek crossings can be deeper than a stock air intake.

    • 5 · Bull bars

A winch needs a strong, winch-rated front bar to mount on.

Each of these is made for one vehicle, so the parts show once we know yours.

The trip asks for these; the rest of the rig is yours to choose. Build the whole rig for this trip.
