Willandra LakesWillandra Lakes (far south-west NSW)
Mungo National Park
The 70 km self-drive loop around the Walls of China lunette and the dry Willandra lakebeds, reached on unsealed roads from Mildura, Balranald or Pooncarie. It is a 2WD road in the dry, but the access roads close after rain and the clay pans bog quickly.

Permits NPWS vehicle entry fee paid at the Mungo Visitor Centre; Main and Belah campgrounds booked through NPWS.
Before you go Check NPWS alerts before you go; the access roads close after rain. Fill up in Mildura or Balranald and carry food and water, as the park has no fuel or shop.
What the trip asks of your 4WD
In the order a fitter would raise them, each with the reason. Up to three parts that fit for each, the first already chosen; swap any of them, or mark one you don't need.
Build it for your 4WD
Your rego or your model, and every part below is one that fits it. Until then you see the gear that fits any 4WD; the parts made for one vehicle wait for yours.
1 · Suspension & GVM
Long corrugated dirt roads from Mildura or Balranald wear out tired shocks.

With fuel about 110 km away and no shop in the park, you carry water, food and spare fuel.
3 · Recovery
A shower of rain turns the clay pans and lunette tracks boggy.
4 · Bull bars
Kangaroos and emus are on the roads at dawn and dusk.
5 · Lighting & 12V
A dual battery runs the fridge at Belah camp, halfway round the loop with no power.
Each of these is made for one vehicle, so the parts show once we know yours.
The trip asks for these; the rest of the rig is yours to choose. Build the whole rig for this trip.
