WimmeraWimmera (Nhill to Kaniva)
Little Desert National Park
Sandy tracks through heath and mallee between Nhill and Kaniva, with camps on the Wimmera River at Horseshoe Bend and Ackle Bend and deep sand on the McDonald Highway track. A fire in January 2025 burnt about 70 percent of the park; the Central Block reopened in September 2026, but the Eastern Block is still closed.

Permits No permit to drive; Parks Victoria campground fees and bookings for sites such as Horseshoe Bend and Ackle Bend.
Before you go Check Parks Victoria for open tracks before you go; the Eastern Block is still closed after the 2025 fire, and the Charcoal Flat, Mt Moffat and River tracks are gated 4 Jun to 29 Oct 2026.
